Laken Snelling has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of her newborn son, McCoy Cade Hall. But was 10 years enough?

In this video, we're looking at two major courtroom moments: Laken's guilty plea, where she admitted to ending her baby's life, and her October 16, 2026, sentencing hearing.

We hear from the baby's father, Izaiah Hall, and his family as they describe how this tragedy has affected their lives. We also listen to Judge Diane Minnifield explain her decision before handing down the sentence.

And here's where I have some thoughts.

Laken was 22 years old when she was sentenced. She had no prior criminal record, and the judge considered her background before accepting the recommended sentence. But after hearing what happened to this little boy, I was surprised that the sentence was only 10 years.

We're going through the courtroom footage, what Laken admitted, what the family had to say, and why I believe this sentence deserves a closer look.
